Buying guide: Yacht-Master Certified Pre-Owned
The Yacht-Master is Rolex's sailing-themed line, with a more leisure-oriented look than the brand's pure tool watches: a bidirectional 60-minute graduated bezel, used to read off time intervals (the run between two buoys, for instance) though it is not a chronograph and, on Rolesium versions, an exclusive combination of steel and platinum.
Main references (Yacht-Master 40)
- 116622 — produced from 2012 to 2019, 40mm Rolesium case (steel with a 950 platinum bezel), calibre 3135 movement.
- 126622 — the current version since 2019, calibre 3235 movement with 70 hours of power reserve.
The line also includes other sizes — the Yacht-Master 42, in white gold or RLX titanium, and the 37mm and smaller models — as well as the Yacht-Master II, a regatta chronograph with a programmable Ring Command countdown bezel: a functionally different product, which has its own search page on the site and isn't covered by this guide.
What to check before buying
On Rolesium versions, the bezel's platinum doesn't oxidise or discolour over time the way some other metals do — so any visible marks should be read as mechanical wear (scratches) rather than natural discolouration. Check that the Oysterlock clasp works properly and that the bidirectional bezel turns with even clicks and no play in either direction.
Why CPO makes sense for this model
The Rolesium steel-and-platinum pairing is a specific Rolex process: official certification guarantees the materials and proportions match the original standards, a check that's less of a given through an uncertified channel.
